Elizabeth Carol Naprstek Obituary

Elizabeth Carol Holloway Naprstek, 74, of Metter, and wife of Melvin "Mel" Ray Naprstek, died early Tuesday morning, February 13, 2018 at her residence with her husband at her side.

Born in Montgomery Alabama, she was a daughter of Vernell Turner Holloway and Carl Holloway. Mrs. Naprstek started her working career at the young age of 16 working as a clerk for Woolworth in Garden City.  She met and married the love of her life, Melvin Ray Naprstek in 1963.  Carol later worked at Coastal Chemical and the City Hall in Savannah as paymaster for 12 years.  She always worked in a secretarial position.  In earlier years, she moved to Nebraska with Mel and Melanie to take care of Mel’s mother.  After the passing of his mother, they moved back to Georgia and she worked at the Health Department in Metter and retired after working there for over twenty years.  Carol was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She and Mel lost their only child Melanie last year. She adored and was extremely proud of their only grandchild Randon. Her hobbies included sewing, embroidery, crocheting, gardening, and baking.  She made excellent cakes and decorated them beautifully for which she was a real artist.  She made many wedding cakes and cakes for special occasions.  She was always a good person and was eager to lend a hand to anyone needing help.  She had a giving spirit. Carol loved to travel with her family. They made many cross-country trips. She also loved camping at many different campgrounds, enjoying the friendships she made along the way. They had the cutest little camper. She was a member of Cedar Street Baptist Church and faithfully attended and sang in the choir until her health problems plagued her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Melanie Ray Naprstek Strange.

Surviving are her husband, Melvin “Mel” Ray Naprstek of Metter; her grandson, Randon “Ray’ Strange of Charleston South Carolina; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Judy and Jody Price of Ellabell, Myrtle and Jimmy Hall of Springfield; sisters, Bobbie Holloway and Donna Grice; brother, Carlton Holloway; other brothers and sisters-in-law in Nebraska; and Marge (sister-in-law) from California. Last, but not least, she is survived by their little dachshund Molly, who was like her little baby. If you came to visit, you had to talk to Molly.

The funeral will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon at Cedar Street Baptist Church with Bo Fulginiti officiating

Visitation will be held from 1:30 until 3 o’clock in the afternoon at the church on Thursday.

Interment will be in Lake Cemetery.
