Cody E. Zerwig, 18, of Metter and son of Holly and Randy Zerwig died Thursday, November 30, 2017.
Born in Savannah, he was a son of Holly and Randy Zerwig. Cody lived in Metter his whole life and was a senior classman at Metter High School. He was an avid hunter, fisher and trapper and was an active member of the Georgia Trappers Association. He lived and breathed the outdoors. Cody also trained dogs; and his beloved, “Blu Girl”, that was always by his side, could hunt and track anything. Cody was a vibrant, full of life teenager who was often referred to as a, “wild child”. He was loving, caring and would go out of his way to help a stranger. Cody will be greatly missed by many. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dylan and Austin; great-grandparents, Robert and Margie Tuten of Guyton, Johnny and Betty Hall of Orange Park, Florida, Carl Zerwig and Rosemary Naeger.
Surviving are his father and mother, Holly and Randy Zerwig ; a sister, Abigail Zerwig; a brother, Dustin Zerwig; his maternal grandparents, Marcia Hall and Jerry Hall all of Metter; his paternal grandparents, Carol and Daniel Zerwig of Missouri; paternal great-grandparents, Rita Zerwig and Valentine Naeger both of Missouri; aunts and uncles, Keith and Teresa Zerwig, Mark and Shawna Zerwig, and Stacey and Nick Zerwig all of Missouri; and several cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church, Sunday, December 3, 2017.
The funeral will be held Monday, December 4, 2017 at 2 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Fennel officiating. Pallbearers will be Cole Simmons, Jeremy Bass, Jerrid “Rod” Bass, Miles Martin, Lane Williams and Hunter Young. Honorary Pallbearers will be the men and women of Tyson Utilities.
Interment will be in Lake Cemetery.
