Johnny R Holloway

Johnny Ray Holloway, 66, of Metter died early Sunday, August 14, 2016 at his home. Johnny was born in Metter, the son of Jackson “Jack” and Fannie L. McCullough Holloway and was a lifelong resident of Candler County. He was a 1969 graduate of Metter High School where he was #55 for the Metter Bulldogs.  Johnny began his radio music broadcasting career at age 16 and continued broadcasting radio sports for the next 30 years. He was a life insurance salesman.

Johnny was a member of the New Beulah Methodist Church and a 32nd degree Master Mason of  Metter Masonic Lodge #435 F&AM. He loved trout fishing and camping in North Georgia, snow skiing, antique tractors and visiting the Amish country in Pennsylvania. His father preceded him in death.

Surviving are his mother, Fannie L. Holloway, of Metter; two sisters, June Holloway and Faye Holloway and her husband, Huey Higgs all of Metter; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Michelle Holloway, Joey and Monice Holloway all of Metter; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 am, at New Beulah Methodist Church with Reverend Gordon Dukes and Reverend Bobby Taylor officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial with Masonic rites observed will be held at Rosemary Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 6-8 pm, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.
