Louis Holland

David Louis Holland, 70, of Metter died Tuesday, October 11th, 2016 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

Louis was the son of Charlie and Christine Strange Holland. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was of Primitive Baptist faith, having served as a deacon at Primitive Grove Primitive Baptist Church.

Louis loved fishing, working in his shop, trying out new restaurants, and working in his garden. He always said he was the happiest when he could see dust flying behind his tractor. His most favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and friends. His family described him as the hardest working man they knew. Louis was a loving husband, a devoted Daddy and the best Pa ever. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Wanda Kay Holland.

Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Sue Sutton Holland of Metter; two daughters, Wendy Lanier (Richard Penn) of Rincon and Bridgett Lee (Mike Kilpatrick)of Metter; three grandchildren, Landon Lanier, Dylan Lee and Gavin Lee; Dylan, Ayden and Marissa Kilpatrick also were fortunate to call him Pa; two sisters, Lanelle Jarriel of Metter and Billie Sue (Bob) Belvin of Eulonia; a brother, Charles Holland (Tonia Tucker); mother-in-law, Marjorie Taylor Sutton of Metter; several nieces and nephews;  and his little Chihuahua, Sophie.

Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:30 Thursday, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.

Funeral will be held at 2 PM, Friday afternoon at Metter Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Richard Davis and Elder Mike Newman officiating.  Burial will be in the Primitive Grove Church Cemetery; 15125 Canoochee Road, Cobbtown, Georgia 30420. Pallbearers will be Charlie Holland, Rusty McNair, John Michael Page, Andy Sutton, Brooks Wallace and Adam Sutton. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Holland Road Fire Department and their spouses from Lake Wales, Florida; Chris and Cheryl Jarriel, Michael and Penny Cranford, Keith and Dana Stanfield, Wendell and Pam Ellis, Gene and Ann Britt, Carl and Carol Sparks, Danny Kennedy and Steve Page.
