Welcome to the memorial page for

Ruth Jane Willoughby Sikes Powell

November 19, 2013

Ruth Jane Willoughby Sikes Powell, 88, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, whom she loved and served faithfully on Tuesday, November 19, 2013. The daughter of the late Ellie and Mattie Kersey Willoughby, she loved everyone and all who knew her loved her. A member of the Full gospel Tabernacle for over 65 years, she was a Sunday school teacher and a singer. Mrs. Ruth visited the sick and needy, praying for them, providing food, money and other things they needed. She farmed, worked in factories and took care of the sick in her home. Many people remember her from the 26 years she worked in the dry cleaning business and 17 years as a nurse's aide at Candler County Hospital. The Lord has blessed her life and when he called, she answered and was ready to go.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, John Sikes and Felton Powell; son, James "Hammer" Sikes; a grandson, Jimmy Sikes; sisters, Vannie, Martha and Ethalene; brothers, Johnny, Walter, Jim and Earl.

Survivors are wonderful nieces and nephews; many dear friends and step-grandchildren.
