Robert Priest Obituary

Robert Newton Priest, 70, of Metter and formerly of Kingston, New York, died Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Memorial Medical University Medical Center in Savannah.

Born in Kingston, New York he was a son of Robert and Alicia Priest.  Mr. Priest retired from the City of Kingston as Deputy Fire Chief in 1998 having worked there for twenty-one years.  He began his career with the Fire Department as dispatcher and worked his way up to the position of Deputy Fire Chief.  Mr. Priest grew up in the Catholic faith and after moving to Metter, joined the Metter United Methodist Church.  He had a love of music that spanned throughout his life and he played as a musician in New York and in later years in Metter at the church.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Ann Cheely Priest of Metter; his children, Tracy Priest (Jimmy Buff) of Kingston, NY, Christopher Priest (Lindsay) of Long Beach, NY, and Valerie Lowery (Justin) of Brooklet, GA; brothers, Timothy Priest (Nan) of Stone Ridge, NY and Emmanuel Priest of Binghampton, NY; sister, Terri Gallenz (David) of Kingston, NY; grandchildren, Nathaniel Buff, Charlotte Mae Priest, and Jordan “Jo Jo” Lowery; several nieces and nephews; and special family friends, Laura Fowler and Timothy Dousharm of Metter.

The memorial service for Mr. Priest will be held Saturday, January 5, 2018 at 3 o’clock in the afternoon at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.
