Janice Lee Collins

Janice Lee Collins passed away peacefully at home on December 24, 2022.

Janice was born on March 5, 1951 and resided in Metter her whole life. She was the daughter of Sara Ellen (Ma) Lee and the late Leonard (Pa) Lee.

Janice graduated from Metter High School and received her Bachelor and Master degrees in Education as well as a Education Specialist degree from Georgia Southern University. She was a teacher in the Candler County School system for her entire career until she retired in 2004. She was beloved by her students and especially adored by the many student teachers she impacted in her over thirty years of teaching. After retiring from the school system, she and her husband James operated a successful HVAC company and took many motorcycle trips all over the country in their leisure time. She also enjoyed crafting, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.  Janice was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, mother, aunt, and a friend to many.

She is survived by her husband, James Collins; sons, Jamie Collins (Charlie) and Jason Collins; her mother, Sara Ellen Lee; sisters, Lennie Wiggins (Jimmy) and Sandra Ramirez (Gary); and several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be deeply missed by them all.

The memorial service will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter with Rev. Mike Holt officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
