Marjorie Saturday Davis Jones Obituary

Marjorie Saturday Davis Jones, 92, of Vidalia passed away Monday March 16th, 2020 at Community Hospice of Vidalia after a brief illness.

Mrs. Jones was born in Collins to Adel and Homer Saturday on March 25, 1927. She resided in Collins most of her life. She was a resident of The Oaks at Bethany Assisted Living in Vidalia for the last five years. She was an honor (salutatorian) graduate of Class of 1944 at Collins High School. After high school, she was employed at the original Tattnall Bank in Reidsville retiring as assistant cashier after ten years to become a full-time mom. Her hobbies included being involved with her children’s activities, reading, crafts and travel.  She was very active in her former churches, Pine Grove Baptist Church in Collins and Metter First Baptist Church. She is presently a member of Lyons First Baptist Church and the Women of Faith Sunday School Class. 

She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years J.C. Davis, Jr. and her husband of 24 years W Oren Jones, her parents, and two sisters, Patsy Coley of Claxton and Claudell Williamson of Vidalia.

She is survived by one son, J. Glenn Davis (Frankie), one daughter Gail (Jimmy) Taylor, all of Collins; grandsons Justin Taylor (Libby) of Atlanta; Billy Goosby of Collins; one granddaughter Amanda (Jason) Julaton, and their daughters Abigail, Audrey, Hannah and Caroline of Escondido, California; one sister Jacqueline Lea (Wally) of Jacksonville, Florida, one nephew, six nieces and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Lyons First Baptist Church at 2 o’clock in the afternoon with Reverends Dannie Williams and George Holcomb officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Interment will follow at Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Collins with Keith Beasley officiating.  

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Community Hospice, 904 Mount Vernon Road, Vidalia GA 30474 or Lyons First Baptist Church, 144 S. Washington St., Lyons GA 30436.

The family would like to thank the staff of Community Hospice and Meadows Park Health and Rehabilitation, Vidalia GA for their excellent compassionate care.
