Melrose Tucker Jones Obituary

Melrose Tucker Jones, 93, of Metter and widow of Edward Jones, died Friday evening, September 11, 2020, at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation in Metter.

Born in Evans County, she was a daughter of Oscar Tucker and Lillie Hendrix Tucker.  On December 21, 1946, she married Edward Jones and moved to Metter.  Mrs. Jones was the oldest living member of Lake Primitive Baptist Church having joined on September 3, 1950.  She had a love for taking care of people and it was evident through her career as a CNA working for Candler County Hospital for over thirty-five years.  She loved cooking for her family, cutting grass and yardwork. 

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Eddy and Debbie Jones of Metter and Al and Judy Jones of Excelsior; two brothers, Edward Tucker of Claxton and Johnny Tucker (Betty) of Bloomingdale; a sister, Lucille Tucker Todd of Claxton; her grandchildren, Kim Jones Campbell (Joe), Brad Jones (Lisa), Jason Jones (Paige), William Jones, Marcy Curl (Jeremy), and Beau Beasley (Holly); her great-grandchildren, Reed Jones, Braliee Jones, Davis Campbell, Dawson Campbell, Dallas Jones, Jacob Jones, Cade Curl, Cathryn Curl, Braxton Beasley, and Brant Beasley; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 3 o’clock in the afternoon at Lake Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Randy Waters, Elder Scott Riner, and Rev. Bo Fulginiti officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Lake Cemetery.
