Sandy Allen Obituary

Saundra Lee “Sandy” Meredith Allen of Metter, Georgia and Reno, Nevada, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Candler County Hospital in Metter.

Sandy was born in Wareham, Massachusetts and lived in Reno, Nevada for several years.  Her and her husband Robert lived in Reno Nevada and in Metter, Georgia. She was a graduate of Western Wyoming Community College and received her associate degree in Business there.  Sandy retired as the Deputy Director of Resources for Bureau of Land Management for the United States.  She was a member of Sierra Bible Church in Reno, Nevada and attended the First Baptist Church of Portal near her home in Metter. Sandy was one of the owners of Robert Allen Pools and Spas Incorporated in Reno, Nevada for twenty-six years.  In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Allen of Metter; her son and daughter-in-law, Zach and Katie Allen of Reno, Nevada; two step-daughters, Dr. Nechol Allen Cato and her husband, Jeff of Louisville, Kentucky and Kerri Reed of Reno, Nevada; her grandchildren, Zoey, Allie, Darlyn, Georgia, Gregory, and Jackson; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Lt. Col. Jim and Karen Meredith of Washington State and George and Pola Meredith of Sheridan, Wyoming; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Chet Talbot of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Janet and Stan Doak of Amarillo, Texas, and Tammy James of Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister in law, Sue Allen of Metter; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, July 2,2021 at 10 o’clock in the morning at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter with Rev. Don Berry officiating.

Pallbearers will be Derek Lindsey, Ben DeLoach, Felix Johnston, Allen Tyler, Jody Robertson, and Emmett Brown.

Interment will be in Lake Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to the First Baptist Church of Portal, P.O. Box 149, Portal, Georgia  30450.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter is in charge of the arrangements.
