Delma Jane Sikes Collins Obituary

Delma Jane Sikes Collins, 84, of Cobbtown and wife of the late George “Junior” Washington Collins, Jr., died early Saturday, September 21, 2019 after a brief illness at her residence under the care of Kindred Hospice and her family.

Born in Tattnall County, she was eleventh of sixteen children born to Jack and Lizzie Sikes.  Mrs. Collins was a member of Connors Baptist Church.  She worked at shirt factories for several years, she was a Certified Nursing Assistant at local Nursing Homes and worked on her family farm with her family in several capacities throughout the years.  Mrs. Collins owned and operated her own rental property company, having acquired over twenty properties.  She had a love for children and enjoyed looking after and spoiling children.  She loved fishing, cooking, flowers, gardening, and dancing with her husband.  Mrs. Collins loved watching all kinds of music programs on the television.  In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by several of her siblings.

Surviving are her three daughters and a son-in-law, Debra and M.L. Brantley of Metter, Vivian Collins and Marilyn Collins both of Cobbtown; three grandchildren, Ashley Nicole “Nikki” Brantley of Metter, Kayla Elizabeth Williams and Haylee Elaina Williams of Cobbtown; three great-grandchildren, Alexa Bree Newkirk of Metter, Sophia Jayce Williams and Kayden Eli Williams of Statesboro; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Erlene Lively of Collins, Mary Collins of Lyons, and Peggy and Earl Lively of Collins; a brother and sister-in-law, Buford and Judy Sikes of Collins; one sister-in-law, Lucille Sikes of Cobbtown; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved pet Zoie.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 o’clock in the evening on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.

The funeral will be held Monday, September 23, 2019 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel with the Rev. Michael Williams officiating.

Pallbearers will be Tony Collins, Glynn Collins, Buddy Collins, Larry Joe Collins, Jackey Sikes, Will Toole, and Shannon Williams.

Interment will follow in Sunlight Cemetery.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
