Elsie Juanita (Brown) Bird

Mrs. Elsie Juanita Brown Bird, 83, of Metter, died Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation Center in Metter from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in Portal on October 6, 1934, she was a daughter of George Ben Brown and Lottie Williams Brown.  Mrs. Bird lived in Metter sixty-seven years and was a member of the First Assembly of God in Vidalia.  She loved her family dearly, especially her children and grandchildren.  Mrs. Bird enjoyed reading the bible and tending to her flower gardens.  She was an inspector with American Argo for many years.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Diane Bird, and a grandson, Mark VanZant, the father of her children, Kermit Bird, a sister, Addie Linnie Brown Collins, and a brother, Charles Ben Brown.

Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Jean Gray (Jessie Parrish) of Albany, Kathy Bird Spivey (Bill Thomas) of Statesboro, and Nora Lee Powell of the Aline Community; two sons, Kerry David Bird (Tina) and Robert Dale Bird, both of the Aline Community; a sister Janie Lou Brown Odum of Leesburg; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel with Rev. Royce Mosley officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
