Evelyn Sisson Monroe, 95, of Cobbtown and widow of the late Ira Monroe, died Thursday, June 27, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born in Wilkes County, Ga, she was a daughter of David L. and Leila Mae Sisson. Mrs. Evelyn was a member of Cobbtown Baptist Church for seventy-one years. She taught Sunday School at the church for many years and was a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class. Mrs. Monroe was the manager and co-owner of Monroe’s Service Station. She was a homemaker and farmer’s wife and was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Monroe.
Surviving are her children and their spouses, Mike and Sylvia Monroe of Cobbtown, Mikki and Bruce Ward of Laramie, Wyoming and Mark Monroe of Cobbtown; a sister, Ellen Brown of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Shannon Wilkes, Cayne Monroe, Brandy Bray, Marley Bertrand, and Justin Bertrand; great-grandchildren, Madelyn Wilkes, Cadyn Monroe, Landon Bray, and Tyler Bray.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 6 until 8 o’clock in the evening at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.
The funeral will be held Monday, July 1, 2019 at 11 o’clock in the morning at Cobbtown Baptist Church.
Interment will be in Sunlight Cemetery in Cobbtown.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Collins, Danny Ray Collins, Larry Dean Collins, Keith Harvey, Dale Sikes, Don Sikes, and Butch Braner.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class.
