Henry Doyle

Henry Doyle, 74, of Statesboro and husband of Charlene Frances Cramer Doyle, died Friday, September 15, 2017 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro.

Born in Metter he was a son of Willis Ezekial Doyle, Sr., and Marie Vienna Doyle.  On February 23, 1964, he married the love of his life, Charlene Frances Cramer.  Henry worked at A & M Karagheusian Carpet Plant in Statesboro in 1963 and in 1966 graduated from Savannah Barber College.  After graduating from Barber College, Henry went to work with the Green Dot Shop in Metter and from there worked in Statesboro at Woods Barber Shop and later “Jerry’s”. He opened “Henry’s” near the college in 1982 as a two-chair shop with the assistance of his brother Randy, to whom Henry taught the trade as well as his sisters, Diane, Carolyn, Annette, and nieces Laura, Susan, and Jessica, and his son, Craig, who had a chair there for his four years he studied at Georgia Southern University.  The business was located on the edge of Chandler Road and grew over the years to become the iconic “Henry’s Haircuts” of Statesboro.  Over the years many other Barbers and Beauticians would get there start at Henry’s Haircuts learning the trade under his direction.  Henry owned and operated the business until his retirement in 2010.  In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his son, Craig Stephen Doyle, and three of his brothers, Robert Doyle, Obert Doyle, and Willis Doyle, Jr.

Surviving are his wife, Charlene Frances Cramer Doyle of Statesboro; his siblings, Lila Mae Doyle Ward, Jack William “J.W” Doyle, Evelyn Doyle Sutton, Dorothy Doyle Fulmur, Randy Doyle, Annette Doyle Cannon, Carolyn Doyle Wiley, Diane Doyle Ellis, and Martha Sue Doyle Boyett all of Metter; several nieces and nephews including, Laura Sutton Dickerson, Susan Doyle Dickerson, Jessica Cannon Pierce, Brooke Leverett Rivenbark, Claire Leverett Aldrich, Dalton Leverett, Taylor Ellis, and Bailey Ellis; and several cousins.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 18, 2017 from 5 until 7 o’clock in the evening at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel in Metter.

The memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Pittman Park United Methodist Church in Statesboro.
