James D. Burroughs, 75, of Collins passed away early Friday, May 10, 2019 at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia.
Mr. Burroughs was the son of the late James Burroughs, Sr. and Jewel Higgs Burroughs. He was a veteran of both the United States Army and the United States Air Force, having served in the Vietnam War. Mr. Burroughs was a Quarter Master of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3563 of Lyons, Georgia. He was a graduate of Collins High School and attended Brewton Parker College. Mr. Burroughs was retired from Bellsouth, formerly Southern Bell and was of the Baptist faith. He was a craftsman who enjoyed wood working and had a passion for genealogy.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, William J. Burroughs (Kevan) of Quitman, Texas and James Burroughs (Judi) of Collins; his grandchildren William Burroughs (Rosa), David Burroughs, Jordan Burroughs (Shelby), Benjamin Burroughs, and Ava Burroughs.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel from 6 until 8 p.m.
The Funeral will be held Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 11 o’clock in the morning at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.
Interment will follow in Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
