Jerry Osborne

Mr. Jerry Thomas Osborne, Sr. of East Howell St., Hartwell, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at his home.

Born March 31, 1939 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Tommie Osborne and Mary Helen Greenway Osborne.  Mr. Osborne joined the Army National Guard in High School and served for 8 years. After graduating from Marsh Business College, Mr. Osborne spent his entire professional career in the printing and engraving industry as a co-owner of J.P. Stevens Engraving Co., Vice-President of Dickson’s, Inc., and Edwards Printing. He was awarded numerous industry awards for printing excellence.  He was a member of Reed Creek Baptist Church in Hartwell and a former member of Valley Brook Baptist Church and Rehoboth Presbyterian Church in Decatur, GA where he served as a Deacon, choir member and Sunday School teacher for many years.  He was a former president of the North Decatur Youth Association where he worked with many young athletes. 

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Glenda Hill Osborne; two sons: Rev. Jerry Thomas “Tom” Osborne, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Metter, GA and Robert Wesley “Rob” Osborne and his wife Christy of Hartwell; one brother Danny Osborne of Hartwell and West Palm Beach, FL and a grandson; Jerry Thomas “JT” Osborne III of Metter, GA also survive.

A memorial service celebrating Jerry’s life will be held Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Reed Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Delaney and Rev. Tom Osborne officiating.  A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reed Creek Baptist Church, 116 Boleman Hill Road, Hartwell, GA 30643.
