. Kinyard "Pete" Jarriel, 71, of Collins, Georgia, died at home Saturday, May 23, 2015. Pete was born January 20, 1944 in Collins and graduated from Collins High School. He graduated from Swainsboro Tech, and after working in Atlanta, decided he hated the traffic, and joined the Navy. Upon leaving the Navy in 1968, he returned to Collins and became a farmer. He was a great tobacco farmer and was known for plowing a straight row. He will be forever missed by his constant companion, his American Bulldog, Rocky.

Pete was preceded in death by his mother and father, Harry and Dolly Boyette Jarriel; his brother, D.L. Jarriel, and his mother and father-in-law, Wilton and Evelyn Hendrix.

Pete is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kathryn Hendrix Jarriel, his son, Kenny Jarriel of Metter; his daughter and son-in-law, Brandt and Angel Jarriel Herndon, of Savannah; his step-son, Wade Collins of Collins; his step-daughter and son-in-law, Art and Deb Shoemaker of Columbia, SC; granddaughters, Ashley Kendall, Caroline Shoemaker and Ava Herndon; grandsons, Phillip Collins, A.J. Shoemaker and Jonathan Collins; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jappy and Charlotte Akins, Robert and Nancy Doyle, and Mitchell and Janice Edenfield; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel with Elder Craig Lanier and Brinson Lanier officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Monday evening, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel. Pallbearers will be Daniel Kennedy, David Jarriel, Lee Jarriel, Brian Hower, Ricky Hower and Philip Talley. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Hendrix, Earl Hendrix, Wallace Jarriel, Phillip Collins, Walter Driggers and Mitchell Edenfield. Guest book: www.kennedyfuneralhomes.com.
