LaRose Kirkland Franklin, 75, of Metter and widow of George Oscar Franklin, III, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Cedar Plantation Assisted Living surrounded by her family.

Born in Vidalia, she was a daughter of the late Robert Linton Kirkland and Margaret Lane Kirkland.  She was a 1960 graduate of Vidalia High School and attended Georgia Southern University for two years before moving to Metter in 1963.  Mrs. Franklin was a member of the Metter First Baptist Church and attended the Ruth Sunday School Class.  Mrs. Franklin was a member of the Pinewood Garden Club in Metter.  She was a homemaker and helped work in the family business, “Metter Auto Supply.”  Mrs. Franklin was a very good cook and loved to visit her friends.  She was a founding member of the Community Care Cottage of Metter which provided the assistance to needy families.

Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri Franklin Patterson (Billy) and Traci Franklin McCranie (Jay) all of Metter; six grandchildren, Blake L. Patterson, Brent E. Patterson, Carli V. Patterson, Lexi L. Hadden, Elizabeth “Liz Anne” Hadden, and Lucas M. Hadden all of Metter; her brother, Bobby Kirkland (Becky) of Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Friday, December 22, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Metter First Baptist Church.  Visitation will be from 1 until 3p.m. at the church on Friday.

Interment will be Lake Cemetery.
