Richard "Dickey" Collins Obituary

Richard Delano “Dickey” Collins, Sr., 82, of Cobbtown and husband of Nell Coleman Collins, died Friday morning, July 19, 2019 at his residence.

Born in Cobbtown he was a son of Rufus Lester Collins and Nita Durden Collins.  Mr. Collins was a 1955 graduate of Collins High School and graduated from Georgia Southern in 1960 with a Business Administration Degree.  Mr. Collins was a contract specialist for over twenty years with the federal government, having worked at Fort Stewart and was a farmer for over thirty-five years.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Delano Collins, Jr. and William D. “Billy” Collins; two sisters, Marion Rogers and Hilda Holloway; and a brother, Dr. William Bill Collins.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Nell Coleman Collins of Cobbtown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Christy Collins of Cobbtown and Mike and Donna Collins of Cobbtown; five grandchildren, Hope Carr (Chris), Paige Collins, William Collins, Julie Collins, and Joy Collins; a great-grandson, Athens Boney; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral for Mr. Collins will be held Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at The Barn at Collins Family Farm, 1575 Woodrow Williams, Road in Cobbtown.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 5 until 7 o’clock in the evening at The Barn at Collins Family Farm.

Interment will be in Sunlight Cemetery.
