Roy Dowd, Sr, Obituary

Roy Clyde Dowd, Sr. of Metter/Twin City died early Thursday, October 4, 2018 at his residence.

Born in Savannah, he was a son of James and Myrle Dowd.  Mr. Dowd was a member of Salem Baptist Church and was a retired Machinist having worked at Brodie Meter, formerly Brooks Instruments, in Statesboro for over 29 years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and picking and grinning on the fiddle and banjo.

Surviving are his wife, Connie F. Dowd; son, Roy Clyde Dowd, Jr.; sister, Joanne Edenfield and her husband, Stanley; grandchildren, Evie Ocean Dowd, and Angel Dowd; brothers-in-law, Ricky Fulmer and Randy Fulmer; and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be held Friday from 6 until 8 o’clock in the evening at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 o’clock in the morning at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.

Interment will be in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
