Wendell Roberts Obituary

Wendell Talmadge Roberts, 72, of Brunswick and formerly of Hillview Community and husband of the late Barbara Ann Sapp Roberts, died late Tuesday, March 5, 2019 in Brunswick.

Born in Collins, he was a son of the late S. J. and Mertie Lee Boyett Roberts.  Wendell was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church and was a graduate of Collins High School Class of 1966.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam.  Wendell moved to Brunswick after returning from the Vietnam war and worked for Brunswick Pulp and Paper, now Georgia Pacific for over thirty years until his retirement several years ago.  He was currently the head driver for Dan Vaden Chevrolet in Brunswick and enjoyed gardening and music, especially the “Oldies”.  In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by two sisters, Merle R. Gilder and Alice Faye Deriso and a brother, Deron Roberts.

Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Robert Tucker of Hortense; a brother and sister-in-law, Jurrell and Margaret Roberts of Hillview; a sister, Joyce R. Brown of Hillview; four grandchildren, Kirsten Tucker, Cassidy Tucker, Madison Tucker, and Juliann Tucker all of Hortense; his “loving second mother”, Reba Dickey of Hillview; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held 12 noon Friday, March 8, 2019 at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.

Visitation will be held from 10 until 12 noon at the funeral home on Friday.

Interment will follow in Anderson Cemetery.
