Bill Harvey Farris of Twin City passed away Friday evening, April 24, 2026, at his residence.
Mr. Farris was born on June 30, 1939, to the late Willie Lee Roay Farris and Addie Brigham Farris. He was a devoted member of Scarboro Baptist Church. In his early years, he worked for Maxwell House, and later spent 30 years working as a millwright with RockTenn in Fernandina Beach before retiring. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Thelma, made their home in Twin City, where they resided for the remainder of his life.
Mr. Farris enjoyed bowling, hunting, and fishing, and he will be remembered for his hardworking nature and love of the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several siblings and two sons, Barry Farris and Kemp Farris.
He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma Odom Farris of Twin City; his sons, David Smith of Twin City, Richard Lowary of Yulee, Florida and Edwin Farris of Yulee, Florida; his daughters, Donna Farris of Yulee, Florida and Sheryl Applegate of Jacksonville, Florida; his brother, Jerry Farris; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 29, from 6 until 8 o'clock in the evening at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, in Metter.
The funeral service will be held 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, April 30, at Scarboro Baptist Church.
Interment will follow at Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
