Brenda Snipes

February 25, 1946 — April 24, 2025

Metter

Brenda Gayle Hadden Snipes, cherished wife of J.M. Snipes, mother of the late Chad Michael and Tracy Lane Snipes (Billie Sue), and Granny of Alexis Lane and Tanner Michael Snipes passes away Thursday, April 24, 2025 at her home.

She was born on February 25, 1946, to Leon and Tessie Hadden in Macon, Georgia. She was the youngest of three children, preceded in death by Leon and Bobby Hadden. The family returned to Metter where her father was born and raised.

Her childhood was filled with learning how to work. While working with her Granny Hadden preparing hotdogs to sell is when she first laid eyes on her future husband J. M. While attending Metter High School, she enjoyed dancing, cheerleading, and dating J.M. After graduation, she married J.M. and the two of them enjoyed sixty-one years of a loving marriage.

While in the twelfth grade she began working at Pineland State Bank. She later worked at Georgia Game and Fish until J.M. and her had their two sons. Then she stayed home and cared for them. In 1972, her father and J.M. bought what is now H&S Service Station where she kept the books. After her sons were grown, she worked full time at H&S and drove a public-school bus route.

While working at the station and driving a bus route, she enjoyed cooking every Sunday for her family. Cooking was one of her most enjoyable things to her because the family gathered. Brenda was the master chef and enjoyed her many helpers in the kitchen from start to finish.

Another favorite hobby was tracing family genealogy. Her research captured the family history back several generations all the way to what ancestors first arrived at this land on boats. Every Christmas season began in October for Brenda, leading to family shopping trips every weekend. She thoroughly enjoyed the shopping to spoil her family.

She will be cherished for her loyalty to her family and her presence on earth is missed greatly. Many memories were made by her nieces, nephews, and cousins and are forever in our hearts.
