Ernest Paul Dowd, Jr., 68, died Monday, February 16, 2015, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. Although Paul was born in Savannah, he spent most of his life in Augusta. Paul liked putting puzzles together and he loved spending time with his family. Paul was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed listening to gospel music. Paul was preceded in death by his father, Earnest Paul Dowd, Sr.; a brother, David Dowd; a sister, Patricia Dowd and a step-father, Otis Grice.
Survivors are his mother, Christine Dowd Grice of Metter; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ernestine and David Parsons of Metter and Terri and John Bell of Twin City; three nieces and their spouses, Paula and Thomas Amesbury, Pamela and Joe Van Blarcom and Courtney Bell, two nephews and a spouse, Justin Bell and Brandon and Amanda Bell.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with Rev. Bill VanSant officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:30 am, prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Brandon Bell, T.L. Jackson, Joe DeLoach, Keith Bruner, David Koneman and Randy Hadden.
