Faye McCranie, a longtime resident of Cobbtown, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20th, 2026, under the care of her beloved granddaughter, Tiffany Padgett Stewart, at the age of 83. Faye was born on December 20th, 1942, in Metter, Georgia, she later moved to Cobbtown after marrying her husband, Frank McCranie in 1976.
She worked as a seamstress at the shirt factory for many years before working as a diligent bookkeeper at McCranie's Logging Company until her husband's health declined, after which she dedicated her life to taking care of him.
Beyond her professional life, Faye had many interests. She was an avid seamstress who loved sewing and crocheting, she loved to read and watch her soaps as well, while her passion for shopping and fashion was always evident; she never left the house without her lipstick on, making sure she was always presentable. Faye took great pride in her yard and flower garden, and her home was always filled with love, particularly when she was surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Arlie Bird and Annie Dell Bird, her beloved husband Frank McCranie, her brother Randall Bird, and sister Louise Collins.
Faye was a devoted mother to her sons: Tony Moore (Kristi), Randy Moore, Dean Moore (Tina), and Ben McCranie, and her daughter, Angie Groover (Leslie). Faye is survived by her brother, Charles "Buddy" Bird, and her sister, Betty Jane Rogers. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren: Hannah Cauley, Madison Moore Martinez (Anthony), Miranda Wynn, Tracy Faircloth (Tommy), Mark Moore, Josh McCranie (Erin), Sabrina McCranie, Jacob McCranie, Tiffany Padgett Stewart (Charles), and Ethan Padgett (Cierra), as well as her 14 cherished great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
