Glen Slater, 84, passed away Thursday February 12, 2026 after a short illness.
He was born in Cobbtown to the late Troy Delmas and Essie Mae Futch Slater. He married Barbara Ann Brown November 29,1963. He lived in Tattnall County in the Evergreen Community in a home he designed and built with the help of his father and brothers.
Glen was a retired plumbing, conditioned air, and general contractor. He started his own company in 1977 and operated and managed it with the help of his wife. He enjoyed working with his hands and stayed active after retiring helping family, neighbors and friends with projects. Glen was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with his immediate and extended family.
Glen was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church and a member of the Cobbtown Baptist Church before marrying Barbara and moving to the Evergreen community.
Glen is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Ann Brown Slater, his two sons Glen Cleveland (Janie) Slater, Jr. and Stanley Slater, and three grandchildren, Carolina Slater, Joseph Slater, and Barrett Slater.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Essie Mae Futch Slater; three brothers, Charles Slater, Olin Slater, and Alton Slater; two sisters, Helen Rogers and Annette Branch.
Funeral services will be held Monday February 16, 11:00 AM, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with burial in the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 AM, Monday, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.
