James “Jimmy” Ray Branch

James “Jimmy” Ray Branch passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Candler County Hospital in Metter.

Born in Cobbtown, Jimmy was the son of Oscar Underwood and Juanita Williams Branch. A lifelong resident of Toombs County, he was a member of Lyons Baptist Church. Jimmy dedicated his working years to serving others as a teacher at the Montgomery Department of Corrections and was also a farmer.

Jimmy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Nan Jarriel Branch of Lyons; three sons, John Branch (Katherine) of Warner Robins, Jamie Branch of Lawrenceville, and Chris Creech (Dale) of Collins; two daughters, Amy Branch-Repella (Matthew) of Savannah and Jennifer Walker (Willis) of Cobbtown; brother, Roger Gary Branch; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.  He leaves behind ten grandchildren: Jena Branch, Louisa Coley, Brendan Branch, JR/Jade Branch, Emmitt Branch, Millie Repella, James Repella, Destiny Willis (Daniel), Mollie Walker, and Jordan Walker; and two great-grandchildren, Walker and Willow Willis.

Jimmy is also survived by extended family, Ben and Wendy Akins of Lyons. The family extends special thanks to his caregivers, Angie Gibson and Amy Meeks, for their loving care and support.

A graveside service will be held at Wilkes Family Cemetery in Toombs County on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Paul Moore officiating.

Family and friends wishing to visit with the family or bring food are invited to come by The Bowen House, located at 554 Bowen Road, Cobbtown.
