James "Jew Baby" Harvey Sikes, 72, of Cobbtown died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Community Hospice in Vidalia. The son of Harvey and Evie Sikes was a lifelong resident of Cobbtown. He was a retired commercial refrigeration technician and was self-employed. Jew Baby, as he was known, was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Mary Woods Sikes of Cobbtown; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Tammy Sikes of Cobbtown; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lisa and Joey Kirkland of Lyons, Karon and Phil Parker of Cobbtown, and Sherry Sikes of Cobbtown; a brother, Otis Sikes of Collins; two sisters, Eunice Hess of Cobbtown and Evon Morris of Lyons; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:00 AM, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Pastor Danny Zorn officiating. Burial will be in the Sunlight Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, 6-8 PM. Pallbearers will be James Moxley, Colin Clements, Eddie Funderburk, Bill Braddy, Joel Manning and Stevie Gill.
