Laura Meadows Rocker, 79, peacefully passed away on the morning of Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at her residence in Statesboro, GA.
Born and raised in Washington, GA, she was the youngest of three children born to the late Susie Callaway Meadows and T. Austin Meadows, Sr. After graduating from high school, Laura attended The Woman’s College of Georgia in Milledgeville. On August 11, 1968 she married Jimmy Rocker of Metter, GA. They were together in marriage for 53 years.
Laura and Jimmy lived the early years of their marriage in several towns across south Georgia, and in 1979, she and Jimmy moved to Lilburn where they remained for more than 35 years. While in Lilburn, Laura was a dedicated homemaker, and she also worked to support her family as a secretary / receptionist for Ernst Concrete for 25 years. If you went to visit her at work, Laura would have a supply of M&M’s ready as a treat, but they would be missing the green ones, because she loved the green ones.
Laura was a loving and devoted wife and mother who cherished her time with her family and friends. She loved to watch horror movies, cooking shows and all things Disney. Laura was the chef of the family, and enjoyed cooking and baking and providing fun snacks, treats and desserts for her family (but the lemon meringue pie was just for when company came over).
Whenever returning from a trip, a sporting practice, or just about anything where her family was in the car, Laura would proclaim “home again, home again, jiggety-jig”.
You are now home and at peace, and we’ll say it for you…home again, home again, jiggety-jig!
Laura is preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Rocker. She is survived by her three sons, Jim (Kim) Rocker of LaGrange, Ed (Terri) Rocker of Jackson, and Jake Rocker of Atlanta, and grandchildren Jacob, Katie, Isabel, Phoebe, and Emmett.
Visitation will be held from10:00 am until 10:45 am on Saturday, July 12 at the Kennedy Funeral Home in Metter, GA, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 am at the Brinson Cemetery in Canoochee, GA.
