Linda Lee Williams, 78, of Statesboro, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2026.
Linda was born on December 4, 1947, in Cumberland, Maryland, where she grew up and attended Allegany High School.
From an early age she sang in church and took great pleasure in music. Until her last week she sang daily and shared her faith in Jesus. Her family even lovingly nicknamed her “Songbird”.
Linda worked as a school secretary and had a special place in her heart for children. She enjoyed painting, welcoming others into her home, and bringing family and friends together. Her warmth, kindness, and hospitality were an important part of who she was but her greatest joy in life came from raising her two children.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn Stewart and Wanda Lee Stewart, her sister Diane Wilt and her brother Ray Stewart.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Whiteman, and her husband, Glenn; her son, Craig Williams, and his wife, Kerri; her brother, Randy Stewart, and his wife Colleen; and her five grandchildren, Tanner, Emma, Gabriel, Seth, and Elizabeth.
A private celebration of Linda’s life will be held with family and close friends.
Anderson-Newman Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.
