Maudie Melinda Sherrod
Maudie Melinda Sherrod, 61, of Brooklet, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, Georgia, surrounded by her loving family.
Melinda was born on February 5, 1965, to Dell L. Hendley Jr. and Madaline Weigel. She spent many years working as a caregiver at Willow Pond Senior Care, where her compassionate heart and caring nature touched the lives of countless people.
Melinda was united in marriage to the love of her life, Frank Sherrod, and together they shared 41 years of marriage. She was also a longtime and devoted member of Harville Baptist Church.
Melinda found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She loved butterflies and ladybugs, cooking, gardening, and spending time outdoors. She cherished her family deeply and held a special place in her heart for her mother-in-law, Louise Sherrod.
Melinda leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory in their hearts, including her devoted husband, Frank Sherrod; daughters, Rebecca Sherrod, Tina Green (Chris), and Sheree Sherrod; her mother, Madaline Hendley; Sister, Judy Mincey (Kenny); brothers, Delmore Hendley (Vicky), James Hendley (Linda), and Travis Hendley (Tennille); and her 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dell L. Hendley Jr., and her sister, Marie Ann Hendley.
Melinda loving spirit, generous heart, and devotion to her family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain a lasting part of the lives she touched.
The funeral service for Melinda Sherrod will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Trinity Baptist Church in Nevils, Georgia.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will be in the Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hagans, Brian Barnard, Zachry Hulst, Bentley Hulst, Matthew Diefenbach, and Chris Green.
Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Melinda life, honor her memories, and offer comfort and support to those who loved her.
