Michael Eugene Jackson, of Metter, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Memorial Health in Savannah.

Michael was born in Savannah on February 12, 1954, and was a son of James Watson, “J.W.” and Henrietta Dona Hightower Jackson. He and his wife lived in Guyton and Springfield before moving to Metter six years ago.

Michael worked with J.N. Construction, Local Union 474 for 40 plus years. Michael will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and his strong work ethic. He loved to garden, but if you couldn’t eat it, he wasn’t going to grow it. Michael was a fan of both the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. He enjoyed fishing and in his younger years enjoyed hunting as well. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James E. Jackson and Dennis Jackson.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Jean Bunton Jackson of Metter; a daughter, Lori Jackson Lee (David) of Guyton; two sons, Michael Jackson, Jr. (Kimberly) of Guyton, Joseph Jackson (Stephanie) of Brooklet; a brother, William Gregory Jackson (Carolyn) of Guyton; a step-son, Camden Ray Cole of Eden, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Michael Isaiah Jackson (Jessenia), Rossi Jackson, Grant Lee, Jaylyn Jackson, Amber, Mia, Izzy and Hailey and two great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.
