Ronnie Elliot Bowen

Ronnie Elliott Bowen, 72, of Metter, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation. 

Ronnie was born on December 13, 1953, in Metter to Elliott and Louise Edenfield Bowen. He graduated from Metter High School in 1971. He loved football and was proud of having played on the last MHS Bulldogs team. Ronnie was a member of the Metter Primitive Baptist Church. Ronnie attended the University of Georgia before being hired by Wang Laboratories and sent to the Cayman Islands to maintain the bank computers there. After 15 years, he returned to Atlanta where he worked for Southern Company and later for Hewlett-Packard. 

In 2014, Ronnie suffered two major strokes on the same night that eventually brought him to Azalea in Metter. 

He is survived by two daughters, Nyssa Triana (Jorge) of Cartersville and Kiara Bowen of Cartersville; grandson Elliott Triana; brother Larry Bowen (Charlotte) of Metter; nephew Mark Bowen (Christy) of Brooklet; niece Christy Smith (Cameron) of Brooklet; 3 great-nephews, a great-niece, and several cousins. 

A small private graveside service was held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, with Elder Mike Newman officiating. 

Internment along side his parents followed at Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Aline. 

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter was in charge of arrangements.
