Roy Everett Parks, 82, passed away late Wednesday, June 11, 2026, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.

Roy was born in Doniphan and lived in Missouri and later Arkansas before moving to Metter less than a year ago. He was the son of George Monroe Parks and Maude Bowman Parks.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, Roy proudly served in the United States Navy. He was a retired crane operator who worked in construction with Asarco. Roy was a deeply spiritual man, a gifted storyteller, and a social person who enjoyed spending time with others. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing pool and fishing.

He is survived by his sons, Kenny Nations of Glennville and Alan Nations (Jeffrey Jenkins) of Key West; four grandchildren, Christopher Nations, Brittany Tillman (Christian), Dalton Nations, and Emily Nations; sisters Alma Stone (Dave) and Regina Thurman (Larry); and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Parkview Cemetery. The date and time will be announced by Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel of Metter.
