Thomas Vernon Collins, Jr.

Thomas (Tommy) Vernon Collins, Jr. was born on August 11, 1951 in Jacksonville Florida, and died on February 20, 2026.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Thomas Vernon Collins,Sr. and Mae Porter Locke Collins. He died peacefully in Hospice in Tampa, Florida, where he lived the last 20 years of his life. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Nicholas; son Nicholas McGovern and wife Stephanie McGovern (grandchildren Zachary Lamprecht, Colin McGovern, Brady McGovern, Naomi McGovern, Fiona McGovern), and son Thomas Vernon Collins, III., and wife Cori Collins (grandchild Charlotte Collins). He is also survived by his sister, Mary Kay Collins Williams and brother-in-law Tommy Williams, and very large extended family. He was a favorite brother-in-law and favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews. He chose to be buried by his father in Cobbtown, where he had wonderful childhood memories that he cherished. We rejoice in his departure for surely this kind and gentle soul is in heaven.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Sunlight Cemetery in Cobbtown.
