OBITUARY FOR TIMOTHY DICKENS BELL Timothy Dickens Bell, 67, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on June 8, 2025, at Medical City Dallas Hospital, surrounded by close friends. Tim was born on January 6, 1958, in Augusta, Georgia, to Durwood Franklin Bell and Ella Jean Dickens Bell.
Timothy had tremendous Christian faith, and a passion for learning. Tim earned a BS in Business Finance with a Minor in Bible Studies from Dallas Baptist University. He also attended Christ for the Nations Institute, earning a degree in Bible and Preaching. Later, he earned his Pharmacy Technician license.
In the 1980s, Tim worked in the office of U.S. Representative Tom DeLay and joined a congressional delegation trip to China. He later worked for over 35 years at Tom Thumb locations in Dallas at Preston Center, Preston Royal, and Preston Beltline.
Tim had an extraordinary memory and was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of the Bible, geography, and trivia, often winning at games like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He spoke several languages, including Spanish and Chinese, surprising friends.
Tim’s friendships were a cornerstone of his life. His innocence and loyalty earned him a large network of friends, including notable figures Ebby Haliday, Mary Kay Ash, and Ross Perot. He was known for his love of routine, frequenting local restaurants staffed by kind people at India Palace, Outback Steakhouse, Table 13, and May Dragon every week. Tim made friends quickly at his assisted living home. The nurses and aides at Treemont loved him as their own.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Cleo and Lennie Dickens, and special friend Otis Meserole, Jr.
He is survived by many friends, both near and far, who remember him for his strength, faith, and the unique perspective he brought to life. The best part about being Tim’s friend was gaining knowledge there are angels on earth- human angels that look out for someone different. Being a friend of Tim was a view into a world where people are good, kind, and value difference. May his memory continue to inspire kindness and appreciation for the beauty in every unique soul.
A graveside service will be held at 11 o'clock in the morning on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Cobbtown, Georgia, where Tim will be laid to rest alongside his mother and grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Operation Kindness at www.operationkindness.org.
