Walter Lenwood Cannon

Walter Lenwood Cannon, of Metter, died early Sunday, October 9, 2022, at his residence.

Lenwood was born in Tattnall county and was a son of Walter Jacob Cannon and Velma  Irene Oliver Cannon.  He was a veteran of The United States Merchant Marines. In his early years, Lenwood worked at Henderson Brothers Funeral Directors in Savannah and later worked in real estate managing Condos.  Since moving to Metter, Lenwood was worked as a pet breeder.  In addition to his parents, Lenwood was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Cannon.

Surviving are his sister, Joyce Steele of Metter; his brothers, Harry (Doris) Cannon of Claxton and Julian Cannon of Metter; and several nieces and nephews.

The graveside service will be held at 11 o’clock in the morning on Thursday, October 13, 2022 in Old Anderson Cemetery.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter is in charge of the arrangements.
