Kenneth Wayne “Rabbit” Cannon
Kenneth Wayne “Rabbit” Cannon of Metter passed away early Saturday morning, October 3, 2026, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro.
Wayne was born in Claxton and was the son of Jimmy Cannon and Jeanette Green Lewis. He was a lifelong resident of Metter and was self-employed in the construction industry as a carpenter.
Wayne enjoyed recreational shooting, grilling out, and family get-togethers, especially when he could have a crowd around and feed everyone. He loved fishing, riding his motorcycles, spending time at the river, and camping with his family.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a brother, Dannell Thomas Cannon and an uncle, David Thomas Green.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda Hall Cannon of Metter; two sons, Wayne Cannon, Jr. (Stacie Marie) of Metter and Ronny Cannon (Emily S. Cannon) of Richmond Hill; five grandchildren, Keith Dunford, Ransley Cannon, Leland Petitt, Charlie Cannon, and Chandler Cannon; three sisters, Pam Earls of Metter, Sandra Lewis of Marietta, and Dana Joy Lewis of Metter; two uncles, Jerry W. Green (Linda) of Alabama and Thomas Green (Fannie Sue) of Stillmore; two aunts, Jane Hardy and Patty Cockman; and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be conducted 1 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at the family home.
Anderson-Newman Funeral Homes, Kennedy-Hooks Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
