Della Mercer "Dell" Youngblood Obituary

Della Mercer “Dell” Youngblood, of Metter, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 19, 2022, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

Dell was born in Metter and lived there all of her life.  She was of the Baptist faith and attended Cedar Street Baptist Church.  Dell graduated from Metter High School and attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College before moving to South College in Douglas where she received her degree.  Dell worked for Candler County Hospital as an LPN for over forty years and in recent years worked at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation. She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Mercer.

Surviving are her daughter, Tiffany Griggs (Caleb) of Hartsville, South Carolina; two sons, Beau Youngblood (Hannah) and Rhett Youngblood (Tiffanie) of Metter; her mother, Virginia Mercer of Metter; her fiancé, Charles Charles of Metter; a brother, Lamar Mercer of Metter; grandchildren, Hendley Rae, Hamp, Hunt, Zach, Olivia, Hutson, and Brooke; and several nieces and nephews including Dustin Mercer who was like one of her own children.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 22 from 1 until 3 o’clock in the afternoon at Cedar Street Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Cedar Street Baptist Church.

Interment will be in Primitive Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter is in charge of the arrangements.
