Irma Martinez Mendoza

Irma Martinez Mendoza., of Statesboro passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Ogeechee Area Hospice, in Statesboro, Ga.

Mrs. Martinez was born the daughter of Francisco Maria and Maria Mendoza. She began her life in Mexico but then moved to the United States when she was a young girl. She has spent most of her time in the U.S. apart of the Statesboro community. Mrs. Martinez was a very strong, independent, and hard-working woman. She loved her family very much and to them she was their protector. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time watching tv, especially action and sci-fi shows, and she also enjoyed gardening. She was a great cook, and everyone loved her tamales. She is preceded in death by her father, Francisco Martinez Maria

Surviving are her daughter, Andrea Martinez; son, David Gonzalez Martinez; mother, Maria Mendoza; sisters, Dalia Martinez Mendoza and Antonia Martinez Mendoza; brothers, Alejandro Martinez Mendoza, Sergio Martinez Mendoza, Juan Antonio Martinez Mendoza; and a grandchild, Sebastian Flores Martinez.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 6 until 8 o’clock in the evening, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter.

The funeral mass will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 9 o’clock in the morning, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Statesboro, Georgia.

Interment will follow at Lake Cemetery in Metter, Ga.

The family would like to specially thank Linda Rushing, Bryan and Beth Burke, Heather and Ryan McNeal, Tommy Sisson, Pam and Brett Lanier, Laura and Dewey Newton, Kathy and Todd Nelson, and Pam and David Averitt for all their support during this time.

Irma Martínez Mendoza., de Statesboro, falleció el lunes 22 de mayo de 2023 en Ogeechee Area Hospice, en Statesboro, Georgia.

La señora Martínez hija de Francisco María y María Mendoza. Comenzó su vida en México, pero luego se mudó a los Estados Unidos cuando era una niña. Ella ha pasado parte de su tiempo en los Estados Unidos aparte de la comunidad de Statesboro. La señora Martínez era una mujer muy fuerte, independiente y trabajadora. Amaba mucho a su familia y para ellos era su protectora. En su tiempo libre, disfrutaba pasar tiempo viendo televisión, especialmente programas de acción y ciencia ficción, y también disfrutaba de la jardinería. Era una gran cocinera, y a todos les encantaban sus tamales. Le precede en la muerte su padre, Francisco Martínez María.

Sobreviven su hija, Andrea Martínez; hijo, David González Martínez; la madre, María Mendoza; las hermanas, Dalia Martínez Mendoza y Antonia Martínez Mendoza; hermanos, Alejandro Martínez Mendoza, Sergio Martínez Mendoza, Juan Antonio Martínez Mendoza; y un nieto, Sebastián Flores Martínez.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el martes 23 de mayo de 2023, de 6 a 8 de la noche, en Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, de Metter.

La misa fúnebre se llevará a cabo el miércoles 24 de mayo de 2023, a las nueve de la mañana, en la Iglesia Católica St. Matthew en Statesboro, Georgia.

El entierro seguirá en el cementerio Lake en Metter, Georgia.
