Kelly Gerrell Grimes Obituary

Kelly Gerrell Grimes, 87, passed away at home on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

Mr. Grimes was born in Dodge County in 1935 and was a son of Stephen Loris Grimes and Ommie Skipper Grimes.  He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church and was retired from the Department of Natural Resources in the Game and Fish Law Enforcement Division.  His career with the Department of Natural Resources spanned over thirty-two years. Mr. Grimes loved to fish and loved to travel in his RV with his wife, Sarah.  Their travels took them all over the United States and Canada.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Grimes; a half-brother, Emory Grimes; and a grandson, Brian Kelly Grimes.

Surviving are his wife, Sarah Curry Grimes of Metter; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Joyce Grimes of Townsend, Tennessee and Randy and Cindy Grimes of Macon; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Terry Manuel of Metter; two brothers and sisters-in-law,  Roy and Opal Grimes of Milan and Rev. Wilton and Shirley Grimes of Chickamauga; his grandchildren, James Grimes, Victoria Slack, Kristi Grimes, Brooke Braddy, and Jordan Manuel; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful friend and pet, Izzy.

The funeral service will be held 11 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Evergreen Baptist Church with honors rendered by the Department of Natural Resources.  The family will receive friends from 10 o’clock until the funeral hour at the church on Saturday.

The burial will be in Grimes Cemetery in Wheeler County at 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, November 12, 2022.
