Norma June Braddy Bowen Obituary

Norma June Braddy Bowen, 87, met her heavenly father and reunited with the love of her life on Thursday, July 21, 2022, peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.

June was born in Candler Country on August 17, 1934, to James Grady and Myrtice Farmer Braddy.  She graduated from Metter High School and later attended business school.  She first worked for Dr. Henry Sparks and later joined Medical Associates as office manager when Dr. Robert L Pence opened his practice.  She worked there for decades until retirement. She attended Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Aline, GA as a member and in later years, attended Metter Primitive Baptist Church.

She loved God, family, fishing, and gardening. You could find her glued to the television as avid fan watching the Braves, Dawgs, and her soaps.  Her happy place was in the garden growing and harvesting vegetables or enjoying her flowers.  She loved zinnias and grew the most beautiful ones of all varieties.  Water was her all-time favorite, fishing or at the beach or river. Gathering with friends or family for meals, especially fish fries, made her happy and she was famous for her delicious corn dodgers.

She is survived by her daughter, Harriet Alicia Bowen Jones (John); sons, Robert Mikell Bowen, and Fred Irvin Bowen, Jr. (Marilyn) and sister, Peggy Nell Braddy Sowell.  Grandchildren are John E. Jones, III “Tripp” (Alex), Bowen Reid Jones (Hope), Brooke Paige Bowen, Jerod Clay Marshall, Jacob Thomas Carpinski and Dawson Smith.  Great grandchildren are Carsyn Blake Jones, Ava Reid Jones, Zoey Zuriyah Storms and Dakota Smith and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 5-7 o’clock in the evening at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.

Her celebration of life will be held Sunday, July 24, 2022, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Aline, Ga with Elder Mike Newman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Georgia  30459.
