Tommie (Tommy) D. Rigdon Obituary

Tommie (Tommy) Dale Rigdon, 70, passed away April 5, 2021 at his residence in Candler County, Georgia surrounded by his loved ones.  Tommy was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend to many.  He will be greatly missed by all that loved him.

Tommy was born in Candler County where he lived his entire life.  He was a graduate of Metter High School, class of 1968.  Upon graduation, Tommy began working in bricklaying and later became a master carpenter with an unwavering work ethic.  The Lord blessed him with an amazing talent of building homes until retirement.  Tommy often said he built every home as if it were his own.  Tommy loved spending time outside and teaching so many about hunting, fishing, and other traits.  He was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.  Tommy was a wonderful father figure to many. To know him was to love him. 

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, T.J. and Betty Lois Rigdon, his father-in-law, Robert Jones, and his brother-in-law, Ed Odom.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Marcia Jones Rigdon; his devoted and loving children, Jeff (Miranda) Rigdon, Kristan Rigdon, and Hartt Rigdon; his precious grandchildren, Flynt, Thomas, and Lauren Rigdon; his sisters, Linda Rigdon Holloway (Billy) and Carol Rigdon Odom; his brother, David Randall Rigdon; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Jones; his brother-in-law, Mike Jones (Rosemary); his loving aunts and uncles; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 until 11 o’clock in the morning, Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the Pavilion in Lake Cemetery.

The Funeral will be held at 11 o’clock in the morning, Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the Pavilion in Lake Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter is in charge of the arrangements.
